MARCO ROSICHELLI: RE-MADE IN CHINA
January 16 - February, 21, 2015
Opening: Friday, January 16, 6-9 pm
"Re-Made in China" Marco Rosichelli PLUG Projects is pleased to present “Re-Made in China” a solo exhibition of Marco Rosichelli’s work. Rosichelli employs humor, irony, play, sarcasm and spectacle to bring attention to the absurdities and small details in life that usually get overlooked. He is fascinated with life’s minutiae. Calling attention to the things that people miss, due to inattention, or over-familiarity, becomes the impetus for his work.
Ryan Peter Miller writes about Rosichelli’s recent body of work, “The title, Re-Made in China, first references the multiplicity of assorted assembly line, “Made in China,” commercial products. Post-consumer items Rosichelli carried through customs back to their country of origin in a newly elevated status of muse. It aptly refers to the literal objects recreated by ceramic artisans on site at the residency. But ultimately and ephemerally, it speaks to Rosichelli’s own transformation, moving from sculptor to ceramicist back to sculptor with his return to US soil as former temporary resident of China.
