Jonah Criswell: FALLEN PICTURES
June 17- August 6, 2016
Opening: Friday, June 17, 6-9 pm
PLUG Projects presents Fallen Pictures, a solo exhibition by Jonah Criswell featuring drawings and paintings that explore existential and psychological fantasy. Criswell is interested in how one’s past shapes and hauntsthem and how that isolates them from the present. He presents dreamlike paintings that look toward the future, displaying a senseof anxiety of what is to come for art and our world. In his drawings, history becomes obsessively fetishized as an escape from thepresent. Given the dramatic changes occurring now and those soon to come he questions, what role will art play and what elementsof who we are now will survive? Fallen Pictures explores aging through drawings and paintings that present a particular perspectiveon the past and future.
